Malaysia launches AD investigation into wire rod imports from China, Indonesia and Vietnam

Malaysia’s Ministry of Investment, Trade & Industry (MITI) has launched an anti-dumping investigation into wire rod imports from China, Indonesia and Vietnam.

The HS codes of the products under investigation are as follows:

7213.91.1000, 7213.91.2000, 7213.91.9000 and 7227.90.9000.

According to a notice published in the Federal Government Gazette on 10 October, the probe was launched following a petition by local steel producer Southern Steel, which is based in Penang.

In August, Malaysia launched an anti-dumping investigation into certain products imported from China, India, Japan, and South Korea. The company that launched the investigation emphasized that these low-priced imported products were harming the local steel industry. At the same time, concerns were expressed about the possible effects of China's increasing export levels on global markets.
