Özdemir stated that as Limak Group, they have been working only on the earthquake and they have stopped all other activities since the first day of the earthquake, and said, “More than 200 of our construction machines are working in the disaster area. They first participated in search and rescue activities, now they are working on debris removal".
Total aid reached 400 million TL
Stating that the total value of the aid they have provided so far has reached 400 million TL and that they have allocated a total budget of 2 billion TL for the region, Özdemir said, “We are planning a sustainable aid. We will spend some of our resources on getting the Limakport Iskenderun Port back up very quickly. We are piling up our construction equipment in the port, we will repair it quickly," he said.
“We will repair the damage in the port together”
Drawing attention to the extent of the damage at the Iskenderun Port, Özdemir said: “We will come together and repair the damage in the port. Almost all of our 1,200 staff working at the port were left homeless. We need to protect this region. People in this region need to continue to stay and live here. Their most important need is shelter. Therefore, we plan to solve their shelter needs as soon as possible.”
“We invested 300 million dollars in the docks”
Noting that they bought the İskenderun Port 10 years ago and rebuilt the piers with a total investment of 300 million dollars, Özdemir said, “We increased our capacity from zero to 500 thousand TUI. Now there is damage to the docks. We're looking at how soon we can renew them. But we will be very fast on this issue," he said.
