Libyan Iron and Steel Company announced that production at its direct reduction plants exceeded the targeted rates until the third quarter of 2024. The company said that work is progressing in line with the annual target plan, noting that the planned production of sponge iron in the first and second units was 724,616 tons, while the actual production was 752,284 tons, or 103.82 percent.
It also announced that the targeted production of the third unit of hot casting was 494,944 tons, while the actual production was 519,989 tons, or 105.06 percent.
El-Radani said that the annual target for the three units at the reduction plants is 1,580,000 tons, despite some challenges, including shortages in natural gas supply. He also confirmed that some 383,233 tons of hot-rolled steel have been exported since the beginning of the year.
