Stating that Liberty Steel aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030, Mishra said that they will combine steel scrap recycling with renewable energy and use groundbreaking technologies to achieve this goal.
In particular, Mishra emphasized the role of hydrogen in steel production and pointed out the advantages of using hydrogen in the Galati region. He also stated that hydrogen will play a central role in steelmaking processes.
Sharing the details of Liberty Galati's GREENSTEEL program, Mishra explained that the investment of up to EUR 1 billion will enable the modernization of the plant and the creation of a renewable energy portfolio.
Mishra also touched upon the work being done to develop renewable energy capacity, noting that the GREENSTEEL Academy focuses on developing skills in the sector and encouraging youth participation in the steel industry.
