Latin American pig iron output in September was about 2.54 million tons, down 2.4% y-o-y, according to statistics from Latin American steel association Alacero. Among them, Brazil's pig iron output fell 2.5% y-o-y to 2.11 million tons. Argentina's pig iron output was about 170,000 tons, almost unchanged from the previous month and up 4.2% y-o-y. Chile's output, on the other hand, was up 31% y-o-y to around 52,000 tons.
In the first nine months, Latin American pig iron production reached 22.9 million tons. Among them, Brazil was the largest pig iron producer, down 5.1% y-o-y to around 19.15 million tons. In the same period, Argentina and Chile produced 1.53 million tons and 447,000 tons, respectively.
