Latest status of Asian countries in EU quotas

China and India were the two countries that stood out in the data on the use of European Union (EU) steel import quotas for the period January 1 - March 31, 2025.

India accounted for 30.1% of the 161,301 tons of CRC quota, 100% of the 53,046 tons of 4a metallic coated sheets, 11.5% of the 75,740 tons of 4b metallic coated sheets, 100% of the 77,727 tons of organic coated sheets, 30. 426 tons of stainless hr quarto plates, 99.9% of 31,384 tons of stainless bars and light sections, 47.4% of 7,299 tons of stainless wire rod, 100% of 5,815 tons of seamless stainless tubes and pipes, 1.1% of 295,144 tons of HRC.

China accounted for 76.1% of the quota of 30,598 tons of 3b electrical sheets, 100% of the quota of 126,811 tons of 4b metallic coated sheets, 100% of the quota of 4,969 tons of stainless hr quarto sheets, 99.9% of the quota of 138,724 tons of merchant bars and light sections, 99.9% of the quota of 6,922 tons of sheet piling, 1. 489 tons of railway materials, 20.1% of 913 tons of seamless stainless tubes and pipes, 94.2% of 37,964 tons of other seamless tubes, 99.9% of 7,984 tons of other welded pipes, 13.8% of 26,614 tons of cold finished bars, 34.2% of 78,091 tons of non-alloy wire.

Japan used 38.7% of its quota of 1,579 tons of stainless wire rod and 76.8% of its quota of 1,064 tons of seamless stainless tubes and pipes.

Taiwan used 28.4% of its quota of 23,930 tons of 3b electrical sheets, 99.5% of its quota of 22,514 tons of organic coated sheets, 99.9% of its quota of 45,523 tons of stainless hr quarto plates, 35.3% of its quota of 4,706 tons of stainless wire rod, and 37.2% of its quota of 8,910 tons of other welded pipes.

South Korea did not use one of its products

The data showed that South Korea had no utilization in one product group. The country accounted for 94.4% of its 93,551 tons of CRC quota, 33.5% of its 34,793 tons of 3b electrical sheets quota, 68% of its 164,578 tons of 4b metallic coated sheets quota, 100% of its 70,747 tons of organic coated sheets quota, 99.9% of its 45. 523 tons of stainless hr quarto plates, 35.3% of 4,706 tons of stainless wire rod, 37.2% of 8,910 tons of other welded pipes, and 0% of 251 tons of 3a electrical sheets.
