According to an assessment by SteelRadar, the utilisation of the EU quotas allocated for Turkey has been weak in general, but demand for hollow sections has been strong. In rebar, only 1.63% of the 94,233/t quota was utilised, while the remaining quota was recorded as 92,701/t. Wire rod was also affected by weak demand like rebar. Only 6.06% of the announced quota of 117,510/t was utilised, while the remaining quota was 110,394/t.
Demand for hollow sections seems to be strong
Demand for hollow sections were high. Of the 98,208/t quota announced for hollow sections , 88.58% was utilised and the remaining quota was 11,220/t. Hollow sections were followed by Stainless HR Quarto Plates with 67.91% utilised quota in the ranking made according to the filling rates of the announced quota amount. The amount remaining from the 20,791/t quota announced for Stainless HR Quarto Plates was recorded as only 6,672/t.
The expected rate in flat steel has not yet been reached
For HRC (hot rolled coil), 57,787/t of the EU quota of 469,183/t allocated to Turkey was utilised. In this figure, the utilisation of quotas was recorded as 12.32%. Turkey, which expects to regain its strength in flat steel, is affected by the lack of demand for flat steel in the global market and expects stronger movements in the last quarter of the year.
Only 10,343/t of the 38,012/t quota announced for Pipe (Other Welded) was utilised.
For Pipe (Large Welded), while 14,905/t of the quota was announced, 2,005/t was utilised. The remaining quota amount was 12,900/t.
