Kocaer Çelik, one of the leading companies in Turkey and Europe, which carries out steel profile production, service centre and galvanised coating processes in an integrated structure, has become the 61st most exporting company in the "Turkey's Top 1000 Exporters 2022" survey of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM), rising 11 places compared to last year.
Kocaer Çelik, which has been the largest exporter of iron and steel in the Aegean Region for the last 5 years, delivers its high value-added products to its customers from its warehouses in the United Kingdom as soon as possible through its international distribution channels Kocaer Steel UK and Kocaer Steel Ireland. Kocaer Çelik aims to strengthen its export-oriented global player role in the steel profile sector by expanding its international distribution channels in different countries.
Kocaer increased its sales revenues by 123% compared to the previous year
Hakan Kocaer, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kocaer Çelik, stated that they showed a strong growth in 2022 despite increasing energy costs, fluctuating scrap and ore prices and decreasing crude steel production worldwide. Kocaer said, "Despite all the negativities in the world economy, we continue to achieve successful results in line with our sustainable growth strategy. We increased our international sales by 146% compared to the previous year and realised exports worth 7.2 billion TL. Thus, we increased our total sales revenues by 123% compared to the previous year to 9.42 billion TL. We increased our net profit by 458% to TL 755.7 million. We managed to maintain these strong results in the first quarter of 2023. Our investments, value-added products and international distribution channel were effective in increasing our profitability. We are increasing the share of our value-added products, which are difficult and limited to produce in the world, with our P&D studies and new investments. In this direction, we have recently completed our investments in machinery and equipment for value-added products in our A2 factory in accordance with the latest technology and started mass production. We also continue our investments that will increase efficiency and reduce our costs, especially in renewable energy. We also provide quality and fast service to our customers through our international distribution network. We believe that we will further increase our global competitiveness and exports and maintain our profitable growth performance in the coming period with our value-added products, strong overseas distribution network, renewable energy production and sustainability efforts in all areas."
Working for value-added products
Kocaer Çelik, one of the leading companies in Europe and Turkey, which carries out steel profile production, service centre and galvanised coating processes in an integrated structure, produces value-added products in qualities containing nearly 60 different chemical compositions and more than 12 thousand different types, sizes and thicknesses. The company offers high quality and ready-to-use products tailored to the different demands and needs of its customers in the structural steels, transportation, machinery manufacturing, agriculture, shipbuilding and defence industries, especially in the energy transmission line steels, solar energy steels and mining sectors. Focusing on special products that are difficult and limited to produce in the world, the company increased its value-added product sales from 33.1% of its sales volume in 2021 to 42% in 2022. The company continues to take concrete steps to add new value-added products to its portfolio, which are included in its strategic business plans, with the recent completion of the A2 factory renovation investment and the start of mass production. Within 3 years, it aims to increase the share of value-added products in its sales volume to 75%.
Preparations for Power Plant investment have started
Kocaer Çelik, which has one of the largest rooftop Solar Power Plant in the Aegean Region, meets 33% of the electricity it consumes from renewable energy produced by itself with its SPP with an installed power of 15 million kWh/year. The company, which plans to meet its energy needs in production entirely from clean and renewable sources, aims to gain a significant advantage in international competition by becoming energy independent. Continuing its investments in this context, Kocaer Çelik has started feasibility studies for a 24 MW Geothermal Power Plant (GPP) investment in Aydın Kuyucak, which is equivalent to approximately 120 MW of solar energy.
