From the end of 2026, Knauf Interfer will also purchase steels from the bluemint® Steel product family, which are produced using a direct reduction process using green hydrogen (DRA/SAF).
bluemint® recycled reduces CO2 emissions by an average of 60% compared to conventional hot-rolled strip in all grades and sizes. Knauf Interfer provides product-specific offsetting of CO2 emissions in the Scope 3 category.
With regard to the procurement and processing of green steel products, the Steel business unit, to which Knauf Interfer Cold Rolling GmbH belongs, relies, among other things, on efficient, tri-modal logistics and short delivery routes thanks to their convenient location.
Domenico Marino, COO of the Management Board of Knauf Interfer SE, said: "Through steel supply agreements, we are able to secure our customers' supply chains with Green Steel. Thanks to the close partnership with thyssenkrupp Hohenlimburg, Knauf Interfer is able to position itself in this dynamically growing segment with tailored solutions, materials and consulting expertise."
André Matusczyk, CEO of thyssenkrupp Hohenlimburg GmbH, said: "Today's agreement is another milestone on the road to 'green steel' and demonstrates our shared commitment to greater sustainability and climate protection."
