Georgsmarienhütte, a producer of speciality bar grades, will supply Klöckner with high-grade CO2-reduced quality steel, which the distribution group will then sell in the 'Plus' category under the umbrella brand Nexigen.
This steel is referred to as 'quality steel', is characterised by a high level of resistance and is mainly used in the automotive industry and mechanical engineering, the companies state. The first delivery from Georgsmarienhütte consisted of 25 tonnes of CO2-reduced quality steel shipped to Klöckner's Dutch subsidiary Kloeckner Metals Netherlands.
Going forward, Klöckner and Georgsmarienhütte want to offer their customers even greater quantities of CO2-reduced steel. Kloeckner Metals Netherlands will primarily be responsible for processing the delivered steel volumes.
With Nexigen, Klöckner & Co has developed its own categories for transparent, CO2-reduced solutions in the areas of materials, processing and logistics.
