According to the statement made by the company, Karsan, which plays a leading role in the transformation of public transportation to electric and autonomous vehicles with the vision of being "One Step Ahead in the Future of Mobility", continues to increase its presence worldwide with new deliveries.
Karsan, which provides service with over 1,100 electric vehicles in 23 countries, has taken its place in a new pilot application in North America, one of its target markets. Karsan, which put the first electric minibuses of the North American market into service in 2022, also delivered 14 e-JESTs, the first electric minibuses of the city of Santa Maria, California, with the new project.
The "Microtransit Project" launched in Santa Maria transforms the public transportation experience by offering flexible reservations, real-time vehicle tracking and a transportation service integrated with existing fare systems to city residents via a smartphone application. Karsan e-JESTs stand out as the main element of the city's new transportation infrastructure with the low emissions, silent driving and high maneuverability they offer within the scope of this project.
At the delivery ceremony held for the pilot project called Microtransit, implemented by Santa Maria Regional Transportation (SMRT), Karsan CEO Okan Baş and Karsan Deputy General Manager of Commercial Affairs Deniz Çetin attended to introduce the role that Karsan e-Jests will play in urban transportation.
With the microtransit project, access to areas not served by fixed-route buses is increased and flexible travel opportunities are offered at lower costs by increasing access for city residents. The 100% electric e-JEST minibuses will also reduce emissions and be a complementary element of cleaner air and a sustainable transportation system.

Baş, whose views were included in the statement, stated that they continue to sign firsts as Karsan.
Baş reminded that they entered the market with e-JEST, the first 6-meter electric minibus in North America, in 2022, and said, "Now we have delivered the first electric minibuses to serve in the city of Santa Maria. Our e-JEST minibuses will make public transportation service more accessible in Santa Maria. As of today, our electric vehicles are in service at 10 different locations in the USA and Canada, including Santa Maria."
Referring to the benefits offered by the project to the local people, Baş stated that the Microtransit service allows passengers to make travel reservations whenever and wherever they want via their smartphones.
Baş stated that Karsan e-JESTs are the backbone of this project, the right solution partner for such innovative applications with their structures compatible with smart technologies and compact designs, and noted the following:

Santa Maria Transportation Services Manager Gamaliel Anguiano also drew attention to the fact that the microtransit service they launched in Santa Maria has started a new era in public transportation with the innovative advantages offered by Karsan e-JEST minibuses.
