Speaking at the General Assembly, İsmail Demir, Chairman of the Board of Directors of KARDEMİR AŞ, said that in the new period, they have started to work to make products that touch other sectors, especially the defence industry, with high value-added products.
Speaking at the general assembly held at KARDEMİR Education and Culture Centre, KARDEMİR Chairman of the Board of Directors Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir stated that the global iron and steel industry is undergoing an accelerating change and that the issues triggering this change are the climate crisis and its destructive effects, as well as developing technology, digitalisation, macroeconomic fluctuations, country and customer expectations shaped as a result of geopolitical developments.
Stating that efforts to make the journey to the zero carbon target possible are intensifying all over the world, Demir noted that KARDEMİR, which is moving towards the future in a centuries-old line, has witnessed every stage of Türkiye's socio-economic history, experienced long-lasting change and continuously contributed to economic development.
In the first session of the elective extraordinary general assembly, candidates for the board of directors for groups A, B and D were determined. With the voting in the last session, Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir, Fatih Mehmet Erkoç, Ömer Demirhan, Muhammet Ali Oflaz in Group A, Kamil Güleç and Mustafa Aydın in Group B, and Yusuf Canbolat in Group D became the names that make up the new management of KARDEMİR. In addition, Prof. Dr. Arif Nihat Güllüoğlu, Prof. Dr. Ercümend Arvas, Hacı Abdullah Kaya and Prof. Dr. Mehmet Cahit Ensari were elected as independent board members representing the CMB.
İsmail Demir, Chairman of the Board of Directors of KARDEMİR AŞ, stated that they aim to produce products that touch other sectors, especially the defence industry, with high value-added products in the new period. Demir also stated that their company plans to be a pioneer in sustainability and environmentally friendly production.
