Japan's JFE Steel and India's JSW Steel are investing 55 billion rupees ($664 million) to launch a joint production of oriented (anisotropic) electrical steel. To manage the new plant, JFE Steel and JSW Steel formed a joint company in May 2023.
The plant will be located in India, close to the JSW Steel plant. The production start date of the facility was announced as 2028.
The plant will produce cold-rolled products from anisotropic steel (CRGO), primarily transformer plates. According to representatives of JSW Steel, the plant will be the first full-cycle enterprise of this kind in India
