JSIS pioneers wire rod production, elevating Oman's steel industry

Jindal Shadeed Iron & Steel LLC (JSIS), a leading steel manufacturer in Oman, has announced a significant expansion of its product portfolio. The company, under the guidance of COO and Head Sanjay Anand, is now introducing wire rod to its range of offerings.

JSIS's expansion into wire rod aligns with Oman's vision for infrastructure development and economic growth, offering high-quality steel products to support the country's construction projects and industrial sectors. JSIS's ambitious plans include ramping up its overall capacity to 9 million tons per year in the near future. This expansion encompasses a 4.5 million ton integrated steel production unit, a 2 million ton sponge iron module, a 2.5 million ton smelter, and the newly introduced wire rod factory with a capacity of half a million tons per year.

Jindal Shadeed Iron & Steel LLC (JSIS) has initiated trial production of wire rod, with full commercial output expected by May. The decision to venture into wire rod production is poised to reshape Oman's industrial capacity. With JSIS taking the lead in this endeavor, the country is now equipped to meet domestic demand while reducing reliance on imports for this essential construction material.

Currently, JSIS boasts a robust production capacity, including a 1.8 million ton gas-based HBI plant, a 2.4 million ton integrated steel production unit, a 1.4 million ton rebar production plant, and a 700,000 ton/year long section production complex.
