According to the press service of JSC Uzmetkombinat, the leading ferrous metallurgy company of Uzbekistan, it has actively expanded and renewed its production.
With the implementation of the casting-rolling complex, which is one of the key projects for 2024, the company aims to have the capacity to produce 1.04 million tonnes of hot-rolled sheets per year. It is stated that Danieli Group will be the main supplier and installer of this project. Construction and installation works have been completed by 70%, delivery of main technological equipment by 88% and installation of technological equipment by 58%.
In addition, the project initiated by the company to renovate the ball rolling section, which started operations in 1946, is being actively pursued. It is stated that demolition of old equipment for installation of new and modern units is in progress. Currently, the ball rolling section produces final products such as Ø40 ÷ 120 mm steel grinding balls and Ø65 ÷ 120 mm round balls with an annual production volume of up to 250 tonnes.
Following the completion of the first phase of production modernisation, the annual production of grinding balls will be increased from the current 250,000 tonnes to 400,000 tonnes. The second phase, which is planned to be implemented in 2027 - 2028, will increase grinding ball production to 500,000 tonnes.
