Japan's iron and steel exports totaled 2.63 million tons in September this year, down 1.1% on both a month-on-month and year-on-year basis, according to customs statistics released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF).
In January-September this year, Japan's exports of iron and steel products totaled 23.88 million tons, down 3.9% year-on-year.
As for Japan's major export markets, in the first nine months of this year, iron and steel exports to South Korea totaled 3.55 million tons, down 18.9%, while exports to China fell 3.5% to 2.03 million tons. Exports to Taiwan totaled 1.37 million tons, up 12.7%, exports to Thailand totaled 3.28 million tons, down 8.3%, and exports to the United States totaled 952,056 tons, up 2.3%, all year-on-year figures.
