According to customs statistics published by the Japanese Ministry of Finance (JISF), Japan's steel exports increased by 11.8% in July this year compared to the previous month and by 4.3% compared to the same month last year. The export amount was 2.89 million tons in July.
In the January-July period of 2024, Japan's steel exports decreased by 4.1% annually to 18.59 million tons. During the period in question, the main iron and steel export markets experienced the following changes: Japan's exports to South Korea decreased by 19.1% annually to 2.86 million tons, exports to China increased by 0.6% to 1.65 million tons, exports to Taiwan increased by 9.6% to 1.05 million tons, exports to Thailand decreased by 13.5% to 2.46 million tons, and exports to the United States increased by 3.1% to 726,297 tons.
