Japan's iron scrap exports increased by 0.7% in July compared to the same month last year, reaching 570.405 million tons. The export amount in July last year was 566.718 million tons. However, in the January-July period of this year, Japan's annual exports decreased by 6.5% to 3.77 million tons.
Vietnam was the largest importer of Japanese scrap during this period. Vietnam imported 1.48 million tons of scrap, up 68% year-on-year. South Korea and Taiwan followed Vietnam, which imported 958.713 million tons and 401.669 million tons of scrap, down 46% and 30.9%, respectively, on an annual basis.
Japan's scrap exports to Malaysia increased from 181.592 million tons in the same period last year to 198.613 million tons in the January-July period of this year.
