According to information obtained by SteelRadar from World Steel Association (Worldsteel) data; Japan's crude steel production increased by 1.1% on a monthly basis in July 2024, but decreased by 3.8% annually to 7.1 million tons.
Japan ranked 3rd in the world steel rankings with its crude steel production figure for July. In the same period, pig iron production increased by 1.8% monthly to 5.14 million metric tons, while this figure decreased by 6.3% compared to the same period of the previous year.
In January-July 2024, both crude steel and pig iron production decreased compared to the same period last year.
In the January-July period of 2024, Japan's crude steel production decreased by 2.8% compared to the same period last year, reaching 49.8 million tons. Pig iron production in the same period decreased by 3.5%, reaching 35.79 million tons.
