According to data from the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF), 51.2% of these shipments were redirected to the local market and the remaining 48.8% to export markets. In the same period, Japan's cold rolled coil and strip stocks surged by 1.3% m-o-m to 652,926 metric tons.
Stocks decreased by 15.0% on an annual basis. Steel mills held 71.1% of the stocks, while steel traders made up 28.9%.
During October, Japan's cold-rolled coil and strip production totaled 413,422 metric tons, which reflects a significant increase of 10.7% from the previous month and 6.3% from the same period last year.
