Japanese shipping companies change ship routes due to Houthi attacks

Shipping companies in Japan began to change their routes after increasing attacks by Yemen's Houthis against commercial ships in the Red Sea.

Japanese shipping companies change ship routes due to Houthi attacks

According to the news of state television NHK, "Nippon Yusen" and "Mitsui OSK Lines" companies changed the routes of transport ships departing and arriving in Europe. It is stated that these changes were made out of concern that the Houthis might target transportation linked to Israel, and the ships were directed to the Cape of Good Hope in South Africa.

Likewise, according to media reports, other shipping companies such as Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K Line) and Ocean Network Express have also changed their shipping routes due to Houthi attacks. Concerns are growing that new routes could cause delivery delays and increases in transportation costs, posing the risk of a "supply chain crisis" in the global economy.

Houthi attacks in the Red Sea pose a serious threat to the security of international trade, especially since the Suez Canal is a transit point that carries 12 percent of global trade. These developments have the potential to affect the maritime industry, causing supply chain disruptions and economic uncertainties.
