Nissan plans to use Kobenable Premier, a steel product introduced in May by major Japanese steelmaker Kobe Steel that eliminates CO2 emissions from the production process, from spring 2023 in the two companies' joint press release.
Kobe Steel will also supply Nissan with aluminum plate produced using solar energy in the smelting process.
According to Nissan, about 60% of a car's weight is made of steel parts and 10% is aluminum parts. Nissan and Kobe Steel will discuss how much of the car's metal components will be replaced with environmentally friendly ones.
