According to Reuters, an official from Japan's Ministry of Trade and Industry said that they would consider taking action under World Trade Organization (WTO) rules if any unfair practices against Chinese steel imports are detected. The official emphasized that this step is on the agenda as a measure to ensure equal competitive conditions in global trade.
At the same time, Japan will continue to ask the US government for an exemption from tariffs on steel and aluminum products. Japan continues to insist that these tariffs could have a negative impact on trade relations.
