January billet and bloom imports of Türkiye decreased by 44% compared to the previous year

Türkiye's imports of billet and bloom in January showed a significant decrease compared to the same period last year.

SteelRadar analysts' assessment, based on data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), shows that the country's January billet and bloom imports decreased by 44% in comparison with the same month of the previous year, from 339,641 tons to 190,112 tons. Imports were down by 29.3% compared to the previous month, December 2023.

While Russia remained the largest importer of billets and blooms for Türkiye, the volume of imports dropped sharply. Imports from Russia decreased by 53% to 59,863 tons. Saudi Arabia ranked second with 51,488 tons, while Ukraine and Algeria also came to the fore as important import sources. However, imports from Algeria attracted attention with a 65.1% decrease compared to the previous year. Iran ranked fifth with 10,083 tons of imports, with a 35.2% decrease in imports.
