The Federation of the Italian Steel Companies Federacciai announced that Italy's domestic crude steel production decreased in November.
The crude steel production decreased by 4.4% y/y to 1.8 million mt during this period. In the January-November period, production reached 18.8 mt, following a downward decrease of 4.7%.
The recent slowdown in the steel industry effected both main categories of hot rolled products. Long products production decreased by 5% y/y to 1.1 million tons in November, while flat products contracted more markedly. The amount of flat products produced in November decreased by 12.2% y/y to 747 thousand tons.
Analysing the data for the first eleven months of the year, the production of long products remained at last year's levels with 11 million tons, while the production of flat products decreased by 10.6% to 8.0 million tons.
