In response to Türkiye's decision to halt trade with Israel, Tel Aviv announced that it would limit Türkiye's trade with Palestine and impose sanctions on Ankara.
As previously reported by SteelRadar, the Turkish Ministry of Trade stated that Türkiye's exports and imports with Israel have been suspended, including all products, and that "Türkiye will strictly and decisively implement these new measures until the Israeli government allows the uninterrupted and sufficient flow of humanitarian aid to Gaza."
Upon this, a statement also came from Israel.
According to the Times of Israel, Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz and other senior government officials agreed to take joint steps against Türkiye.
These four-point decisions were listed as follows:
- Take steps to reduce all economic ties between Türkiye, the Palestinian Authority and Gaza.
- Appealing to international economic forums to review sanctions against Türkiye for violating trade agreements.
- Establishing, in cooperation with the Israeli Ministry of Economy, a large bank of alternatives to find alternatives to the Israeli economy.
- Providing assistance to affected Israeli export sectors.
Israeli Economy Minister Nir Barkat complained to Mathias Cormann, President of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), about Türkiye's trade restriction decision.
