According to a statement published on the official website of the EIA on August 23, 2024, the limestone quarry project of İsdemir, which has been in the works for a long time and has sparked various debates about its environmental impacts, has been canceled. The statement regarding the matter is as follows:

“The Group II(a) Limestone Quarry Project with License Number S:89391 (ER: 3400094) planned to be built by İSKENDERUN DEMİR VE ÇELİK A.Ş. within the boundaries of Akarca District of Hatay province İSKENDERUN, has been canceled.”
