Iron ore production in Kazakhstan continues to show impressive growth.

Iron ore production in Kazakhstan exceeded 4.9 million tonnes in March

Kazakhstan's mining and processing enterprises produced 4.929 million tonnes of iron ore in March this year, according to the National Bureau of Statistics. This figure is 32 % higher than last year. Compared to February 2024, the growth was 17,7 %.

Total ore mined in the first quarter of 2024 was 13,139 million tonnes. This figure was significantly higher than in the same period last year and increased by almost 3 million tonnes.

Iron ore sinter production also showed an impressive increase, rising by 31,5% to 499,400 tonnes in March. However, compared to February, the growth was only a slight 9,5 %. In total, 1,431 million tonnes of sinter were produced in Kazakhstan in January - March this year, exceeding the 2023 results by 30,4%.

A similar trend is observed in iron ore pellet production. In March this year, 535,5 thousand tonnes were produced, which is 37% more than last year.

The amount of iron ore concentrate produced in March was 7,09 million tonnes, 4% more than in March last year and 24.3% more than in February 2024. Total iron ore concentrate production in the first quarter of 2024 was 1,786 million tonnes, a slight increase of 0,8% compared to the same period of the previous year.
