The devastating 7.8-magnitude earthquakes in Turkey, which took place with the epicenter in Kahramanmaraş on Monday (February 6th) and affected a total of 10 provinces, deeply affected logistics, infrastructure and steel production as well as many loss of life.
There are large-scale, flat and long product producers such as İsdemir, Koç, Baştuğ, Ekinciler, Tosçelik, Tosyalı Toyo, Yazıcı, Atakaş, MMK Metalurji, Yolbulan, Corbus in the region. Many of the factories suspended production due to the damage they received, the loss of life and relatives of their employees, the disruption of logistics activities and the damage to the infrastructure.
While the factories are trying to support the citizens in the region by mobilizing all their resources, on the other hand, they continue their damage assessment studies and the repair, maintenance and control of their facilities. Controls and tests are carried out part by part, and the units that look robust are gradually commissioned with the technical team that can go to work.
While Tosçelik is trying to start production partially, Baştuğ and Koç Metalurji are expected to start production on Monday next week. Reports were received that the Croppers are repairing roof damage.
The smoke of the chimneys will be partially morale in the region, and the steel sector workers who have lost their relatives and lost their homes are deeply saddened.
