Since 2013, oil shipments have been taking place under a contract between Turkey and Iraq. This year, the Arbitration Center of the Chamber of Commerce (ICC) announced that the contract had been breached and that Turkey should pay $1.9 billion in compensation. Then Turkey halted the oil shipments last March upon Iraqi request, and this week the Iraqi Oil Ministry announced that the SOMO company will resume loading oil from the Kirkuk-Ceyhan terminal in the coming days.
Iraq demands Turkey to reopen oil flows again
The Iraqi Ministry of Oil requested that the Kirkuk-Ceyhan crude oil pipeline be activated by Turkey.
