Iran's steel industry eyes $10 Billion in exports amidst infrastructure optimism and innovation

Experts in Iran’s steel sector anticipate that the industry’s exports will reach a $10 billion in the current year. This optimistic outlook hinges on several critical factors, including the resolution of energy constraints and infrastructure challenges.

Iran ranks as the tenth-largest steel producer globally and the fifteenth-largest exporter in the industry.
The country’s export capabilities have been repeatedly highlighted, and last year witnessed $7.8 billion in steel exports.
Analysts predict that this figure will rise further in the current year.

Despite being a water-intensive industry (consuming approximately 1.1% of the country’s water), the steel sector has implemented innovative solutions.
Recycling wastewater and deploying efficient water circulation systems have significantly reduced freshwater consumption.
Notably, Iran also produces desalinated water from the Oman Sea, which is then pumped to provinces like Yazd and Esfahan.

A critical focus for steel entrepreneurs lies in harmonizing currency policies and revisiting export strategies.
