In the first five months of Iranian year 1402 (April-August 2023), Iran experienced a notable surge in the export of various steel products. Semi-finished product exports saw an impressive 24.8% increase, totaling 3.09 million tons, with billets and blooms accounting for 2.188 million tons, and slabs making up 905 thousand tons.
Additionally, flat and long steel products also witnessed a growth of 15%, reaching 1.341 million tons. Long products comprised 78 thousand tons of iron beams and 992 thousand tons of rebar. Hot sheets dominated the sheet category, constituting the highest export at 167 thousand tons.
Notably, sponge iron exports displayed a significant uptick, skyrocketing from 213 thousand tons in the first five months of the previous year to an impressive 708 thousand tons during the same period this year.
