During the meeting, localization efforts in Iran's iron and steel sector and progress in production processes were discussed.
Association officials underlined their goal of increasing the rate of domestic production in the iron and steel chain and reducing dependence on foreign currency. In this context, it was stated that the work carried out by the Iranian Steel Producers Association with the support of the Ministry of Industry, Mining and Trade since 2017 has made significant progress in raw materials, know-how transfer and technology development.
Great Savings and Local Cooperation
Within the scope of the Iranian national steel festival and fair, more than 1.7 billion dollars worth of foreign currency was saved through the agreements made between steel producers and local producers. It was stated that these projects, which focused on technology transfer and localization in line with the needs of the steel chain, reduced production costs in the sector and created new collaborations.
In addition, during the fair, a special area of 5800 square meters showcasing the domestic production and technological capabilities of the Iranian steel industry was presented to the attention of the participants. Among the prominent achievements were the reduction of steel production costs from $170 to $15 per ton and the signing of over 400 contracts.

Chilan, which plays a critical role in announcing news, analysis and achievements in the steel and mining sector, continues to provide valuable content on the local and international steel market.
METAFO 2024 stood out as an important platform showcasing Iran's localization efforts in the iron and steel sector and its effectiveness in the international arena.
