Steel production statistical data of Iran Iron and Steel Association in April and May 2023 has been announced.
In the Iranian calendar, in April and May of the year 1402 (2023), the production volume of total steel products in the country increased by 3.6% compared to the same periods in the year 1401 (2022), rising from 3,797.000 tons to 3,932.000 tons.
According to the announced data, Iran increased its semi-finished product production by 7.4% in April and May in this year. While the production volume was 5,885.000 tons in April and May 2022, it increased to 6,319.000 tons in the same periods this year.
Compared to last year, billet and bloom production increased by 12.9%, increasing production volume from 3,413.000 tons to 3,852.000 tons, while slab production decreased by 0.2%, increasing its volume from 2,472.000 tons to 2,467.000 tons.
Along with the 7.8% increase in long product production, the decrease in the production volume of flat products did not go unnoticed. 1,745.000 tons of all flat products were produced this year, down to 1.4%. In 2022, it recorded a production volume of 1,769,000 tons.
Hot rolled sheet (Hrc) production decreased by 0.2%, and the production of the products reached 1,696.000 tons in the same period last year, from 1,700.000 tons in April and May. In addition, cold rolled (Crc) and coated sheet products increased by 7.5% to 444,000 tons and 14% to 294,000 tons, respectively.
Among steel products, steel profile production was 212,000 tons, up 22.6% compared to April and May 2022, while 260,000 tons were produced.
On the other hand, Angle and UPE production were 157,000 tons in the same period of the previous year, increasing by 3.8% this year and reaching 163,000 tons.
On the contrary, Rebar increased its production volume by 6.3% from 1,659.000 tons to 1,764.000 tons.
Sponge iron production, which was 6,537.000 tons in April and May last year, reached 6,723.000 tons with an increase of 2.8% in the same period in this year.
