According to the President of the Iranian Steel Producers Association, the embargo imposed by Europe on Russia could create a favorable opportunity for Iranian steelmakers to explore new markets.
After losing its position to Italy on the list of world crude steel production in recent months, Iran has managed to reclaim the 10th place by increasing its production capacity. Once the political and economic obstacles of the country are eliminated, Iran can strategically focus its production capacity towards boosting exports to both Asian and European markets.
Bahram Sobhani stated, "Despite Iranian steelmakers already having customers in Asian countries and the Persian Gulf, this embargo presents a potential opportunity for Iran to reclaim a prominent position in the global steel market from Russia."
Despite facing challenges such as mandatory pricing in the domestic market, difficulties in obtaining export licenses, and similar circumstances, it is imperative for the steel and industrial sector to expand into new markets. This expansion is crucial for enhancing the country's production capacity and capitalizing on upcoming opportunities.
