The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change inspected flat steel producers operating in Iskenderun and Payas districts of Hatay. Atila Erenler, Deputy General Director of Vocational Services of the Ministry, and Tamer Erakman, Market Surveillance and Inspection Branch Manager, also participated in the inspection.
Within the scope of the inspections, samples of flat steel products were taken and their quality and compliance with standards were examined. While making a statement on the subject, Atila Erenler stated that products such as ready-mixed concrete, reinforcement, rebar, thermal insulation materials and cement used in the construction sector are regularly inspected. He stated that as of 2024, approximately 20 thousand inspections were carried out across the country and a total of 180 million lira administrative fines were imposed on companies engaged in improper production.
Samples taken from steel products produced in Iskenderun and Payas were sent for laboratory examination for compliance with quality standards. The Ministry will continue their inspections in five other provinces in the coming days.
