The top ten countries in Indonesia's stainless steel exports in October include China, Taiwan, South Korea, Vietnam, Malaysia, India, Italy, Turkey, Thailand and the USA. These countries collectively account for more than 98.75% of Indonesia's total stainless steel exports.
In October 2023, a notable increase in Indonesia's stainless steel exports to China was observed, reaching approximately 253,200 metric tons. This represents a 102.06% increase on a monthly basis and a decrease of 9.64% on an annual basis.
The cumulative export volume to China in the January-October period amounted to around 1.3484 million tons, which represents a considerable decline of 36.53% on an annual basis.
While there was a significant increase in exports to China and India, there was a sharp decline in exports to other countries. In particular, significant decreases of 90.10% and 91.54%, respectively, were recorded in exports to South Korea and Thailand on a monthly basis. This decline, combined with the October start-up of some production lines at Indonesia's Delonghi and steady orders from downstream entities in China, has resulted in a significant flow of stainless steel billets from Indonesia to China.
On the other hand, exports to India, an important consumer of stainless steel, continued their upward trend in October.
