According to data released by the Indonesian Ministry of Commerce, the country's nickel product exports as of July 2024 amounted to approximately 954,000 tons. This figure again showed Indonesia's leading position in the global nickel market. China remained the largest buyer with imports of approximately 877,000 tons, accounting for 91.88% of Indonesia's total nickel exports.
After China, India and Japan also stood out as important markets for Indonesia's nickel exports as of July 2024. In July, Indonesia exported around 44,000 tons of nickel to India and 6,800 tons to Japan. Despite their smaller shares, these countries are critical to Indonesia’s export strategy. Indonesia’s total nickel exports from January to July 2024 were recorded at approximately 6.43 million tons, demonstrating the sector’s continued strong growth.
