Indonesia has decided to extend anti-dumping duties on imports of thick steel sheets from China, Singapore and Ukraine for another five years. These duties, first introduced in 2016, were renewed in 2021. The government believes that the practice should continue in order to protect the domestic industry.
The products covered by the duties are hot-rolled carbon steel sheets with a width of up to 600 mm and a width starting at 4.75 mm and exceeding 10 mm in thickness. These products are used without additional processing after import.
With the new decision, additional duties of 10.47 % on steel from China, 12.50 % on products re-exported via Singapore and 12.33 % on steel originating from Ukraine will continue to be applied.
