Due to excess domestic demand, Indian companies suspended the supply of steel products to countries in Southeast Asia and the Middle East. In September 2023, national steel exports were recorded at only 157 thousand tons, with a decrease of 69.3% compared to August and 72.3% compared to September 2022.
In the period between April and September 2023, imports of finished rolled products in the country increased by 13% and reached 2,900 million tons.
