India's imports of finished steel from China touched a five-year high in the first four months of the fiscal year that began in April. The main product imports were cold-rolled coils or sheets.
From April to July, South Korea was the top exporter to India, with 0.7 million metric tons and accounting for 35% of overall steel imports. In addition, China was the second-biggest steel exporter to India, with 0.6 million metric tons and a year-on-year increase of 62%. In the same period, India imported 2 million metric tons of finished steel, which has hit a record high since 2020 and increased by 23% year on year.
