Indian quartet of metal trade fairs set for strong industry growth in 2024

21,086 trade visitors came to find out about innovative industry technologies and solutions from 532 exhibitors from 22 countries. The enthusiasm of the industry participants was an encouraging sign for the recovery and growth of the sector.

Organised by Messe Düsseldorf India, the fairs are an important meeting point for Indian and international players in the wire, cable, tube, metallurgy, cutting and welding industries. The high number of visitors reflects the continuing importance of the four trade fairs for maintaining business relations and finding out about technological advances and industry trends.

532 companies from 22 countries showcased innovative products, technologies and services. In addition to numerous Indian exhibitors, companies from Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, the Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Germany, India, Italy, Luxembourg, Singapore, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the United States of America presented their technological solutions.

Wire machines, wires, cables, fastening elements, spring machines and tube machines were exhibited on 38,000 gross square metres. In addition: raw materials, plant and equipment, iron production, steel moulding, casting of molten steel as well as surface and cutting technologies and processes.

The four national pavilions presented by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (Germany), the Italian Trade Agency (Italy), the International Wire and Cable Exhibitors Association (France) and the Swiss Competence Cluster (Switzerland) were another highlight.

Three well-attended conferences were organised in parallel to the quartet of trade fairs. One of the highlights was the conference ‘Emerging Opportunities for Sustainable Future in Tube & Pipe Industries’, which was co-organised by the International Tube Association (ITA) - India Chapter. The other two conferences focused on the current industry topics ‘Process Innovations and Application Initiatives for a Clean, Green and Efficient Wire & Cable Industry in India’ and ‘Vision 2047 - 500 MT Steel Production: Initiative to Decarbonise the Indian Steel Industry’, co-organised by Steel & Metallurgy.

Millie Contractor, General Manager - Messe Düsseldorf India, expressed her satisfaction at the overwhelming response to the fairs and said, ‘The Indian metal fairs have once again been very well received by the industry. We have seen spectacular growth this year, both in terms of exhibitors and trade visitors as well as international participation. It fills me with great satisfaction that the four trade fairs have successfully helped to facilitate interactions that are shaping the future of the industry. The growth of the industry is fuelled by the contacts made here, which open up new avenues for the metal industry.’

Daniel Ryfisch, Director wire/Tube at Messe Düsseldorf, emphasised: ‘India is a very important market for our international exhibitors. The high number of visitors and the strong presence of companies from all over the world show the enormous potential of this market. We see India as one of the key markets of the future, especially in the metal processing sector, and are pleased that our trade fairs can offer a central platform here. This growth reflects not only the dynamism of the Indian market, but also the willingness of the international community to invest in this promising market.’

The fairs are supported by several key industry associations, including the Cable & Wire Machinery Manufacturers Association of India (CMMAI), the Material Recycling Association of India (MRAI), the International Tube Association (ITA) - India Chapter, the Association of Welding Products Manufacturers (AWPM), the Indian Welding Society (IWS), the Steel Wire Manufacturers Association of India (SWMAI), the International Wire & Machinery Association (IWMA), the International Wire and Cable Exhibitors Association (IWCEA), the Italian Wire Machinery Manufacturers Association (ACIMAF) and the DVS - Deutscher Verband für Schweißen und verwandte Verfahren e. V. (German Welding Society). V.
