India increases its use of low-grade iron ore

India has decided that it needs to start research and development (R&D) activities to use low-quality iron ore in steel production, reminding that two basic raw materials, coking coal and iron ore is important for steel production.

The Indian steel ministry said that low-grade iron ore production in India has increased compared to high-grade iron ore. India will adopt advanced smelting technology to use around 100 million tons of low-grade ore for steel production and develop joint strategies for R&D cooperation.
