European imports and exports of "remeltable ferrous scrap" to non-EU countries decreased in 2022!

According to the statistics of the European Commission (Eoropa), the data on Europe's "import and export of remeltable ferrous scrap" to non-EU countries in the 2012-2022 period have been announced.

In 2022, Europe's readers ferrous scrap and imports decreased by 11% and 15.7%, respectively, compared to 2012

In 2022, Europe's ferrous metal scrap imports decreased to 17 million 400 thousand tonnes and imports to 2 million 660 thousand tonnes.

Re-meltable ferrous scrap was not as popular in 2022 as in 2021 and 2020

In 2022, EU converted ferrous scrap decreased by 8.9% and approximately 1% compared to 2021 and 2020, respectively. Imports decreased by 28.8% and 5% to 2 million 660 thousand tonnes.

In 2020, EU ferrous scrap decreased sharply by 19.4% compared to 2019, while imports did not show a sharp decrease

In 2020, EU ferrous scrap imports decreased by 4% compared to 2019, from 2,930,000 tonnes to 2,800,000 tonnes.

Europe's ferrous scrap imports and exports vary greatly

In 2020, the ratio of Europe's ferrous scrap exports to its imports in the same year increased almost 6 times.

For 10 years, Europe did not import as much ferrous scrap as it exported.

EU exports of fusible ferrous scrap peaked in 2017, 2018 and 2019

Europe exported 21 million 750 thousand tonnes of ferrous scrap in 2019, up 0.18% and 8% compared to 2018 and 2017, respectively, reaching 21 million 750 thousand tonnes, the highest scrap exports in 10 years.

In 2015, Europe exported 13 million 780 thousand tonnes of ferrous scrap, the lowest export figure in 10 years.

On the other hand, the 29% increase in 2016 had a positive impact on the scrap exports of the following years.

In 2012, 2013 and 2014, EU scrap exports totalled 19 million 540 thousand tonnes in 2012.

In 2013, Europe's ferrous scrap exports decreased by 14% compared to 2012 to 16 million 800 thousand tonnes.

In 2014, they increased by 1% to 16 million 960 thousand tonnes.

According to the 10-year yield, Europe's highest imports were in 2021 and exports in 2019.

In 2021, the EU imports of ferrous scrap scrap to Turkey were quite high

Turkey accounted for 68% of Europe's ferrous scrap exports to non-EU enterprises with 13 million 60 thousand tonnes. Turkey and all other non-EU schools accounted for 32% of ferrous scrap imports from Europe.

In 2022, Turkey's ferrous scrap imports from the EU

Turkey's share of ferrous scrap exports from Europe's non-EU business shifted by 61 per cent.

In 2021 and 2022, Turkey imported the highest amount of scrap from Europe.
