According to the French Ministry of Economy and Finance, in the first four months of 2023, France's import value of basic steel products and ferroalloys totalled nearly EUR 3.9 billion, down 18% y-o-y.
Among them, France imported about €787 million worth of steel pipes, down 7.1 per cent y-o-y. Imports of cold-rolled (CR) bars totalled about EUR 213 million, down 2.7% y-o-y. Imports of CR steel strip and cold drawn wire decreased by 17.4 per cent and 17.6 per cent y-o-y to around EUR 332 million and EUR 201.4 million, respectively.
During the same period, French exports of basic steel products and ferroalloys totalled approximately EUR 3.8 billion, down 21.6% compared to the same period last year.
