According to the French Ministry of Economy and Finance, in the first three months of 2023, France's import value of basic steel products and ferroalloys totalled nearly EUR 3 billion, down 14.6% y-o-y.
Among them, France imported about €601.3 million worth of steel pipes, down 5.7 per cent y-o-y. Imports of cold-rolled (CR) bars totalled about EUR 165 million, down 0.4% y-o-y. Imports of cold-rolled steel strip and cold-drawn wire decreased by 16.3 per cent and 9.7 per cent y-o-y to around EUR 258 million and EUR 158 million, respectively.
In the same period, French exports of basic steel products and ferroalloys totalled around EUR 2.9 billion, down 21% compared to the same period last year.
