Hydnum Steel and thyssenkrupp Materials Processing move for clean steel in Europe

Hydnum Steel, the first clean steel plant in Southern Europe, and thyssenkrupp Materials Processing Europe, the European leader in steel and aluminum processing, have signed a strategic alliance to support the clean steel industry.

Under the agreement, Hydnum Steel's innovative flat steel plant in Puertollano, Spain, will supply thyssenkrupp Materials Processing Europe with up to 100,000 tons of decarbonized flat steel annually. The seven-year partnership demonstrates the growing demand for low-carbon steel in industry and will reinforce the sustainability leadership of both companies.

In Europe, thyssenkrupp Materials Processing has an extensive processing and distribution network, serving a wide range of industries, including the automotive, construction and household appliances sectors. Thanks to this agreement, the company will expand its range of environmentally friendly products and offer sustainable solutions to its customers.

Marcus Wöhl, CEO of thyssenkrupp Materials Processing, emphasized the importance of the cooperation in the industry and stated: “Interest in clean steel is growing rapidly. We need partners like Hydnum to deliver solutions that combine sustainability and innovation. This agreement further strengthens our leading role in the transformation of the steel industry.”

Eva Maneiro, CEO of Hydnum Steel, added: “We build more than steel. In the 21st century, we are redefining what sustainable production means and demonstrating that steel can be produced in an environmentally responsible way.”

Under the agreement, the two companies will also collaborate in areas such as developing low-carbon solutions in logistics processes, optimizing deliveries and reducing emissions. Also, it was emphasized that work will be carried out on innovative business models and customized processing strategies.
