The process of restarting Huta Częstochowa's operations began in November 2024, after Węglokoks signed a lease agreement with the bankruptcy trustee. The resumption of production at Huta Częstochowa is of strategic importance for the domestic industry, as the plant, one of Poland's largest producers of thick steel sheets, has facilities for steel production using electric arc furnace technology, and supplies steel to both domestic and export markets, supporting key sectors such as steel mill, defense, energy and construction. The support of the project by the Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of State Assets from the outset provided a strong foundation for its implementation, and the resumption of Huta Czestochowa's operations provides employment for more than 900 employees who remain loyal to the plant. Węglokoks also stated that it has taken care to pay the financial debts of the employees.
Adrian Sienicki, president of Huta Czestochowa and vice president of Weglokoks SA, stated: “This development is a great achievement of the team, which, thanks to its experience and determination, completed all important stages on time. Huta Częstochowa is a plant with unique potential and our goal is to fully utilize it in the coming years”
