House sales increased by 1.7% in Izmir

According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), house sales in Izmir increased by 1.7% to 6,504 in August 2023 compared to the same period last year.

House sales increased by 1.7% in Izmir

In Türkiye, house sales decreased by 1.1% in August compared to the same month of the previous year and became 122,091. Istanbul was the province with the highest number of house sales with 17,408 house sales and 14.3% share. Istanbul was followed by Ankara with 11,007 house sales and Izmir with 6,504 house sales. The provinces with the lowest house sales were Ardahan with 39 houses, Hakkari with 67 houses and Artvin with 139 houses.

House sales in Izmir decreased by 8.4

In Izmir, one thousand 574 houses were sold for the first time in August with a decrease of 8.4% compared to the previous year. The share of houses sold for the first time in total house sales was 24.2%.

Second-hand house sales increased in Izmir

Second-hand house sales in Izmir increased by 5.4% compared to the same month of the previous year and realized as 4,930. The share of second-hand house sales in total house sales was recorded as 75.8%.

Mortgaged house sales declined

Mortgaged house sales in Izmir decreased by 35.0% compared to the same month of the previous year and realized as 857. In August, 13.2% of the houses sold were mortgaged.

Decline in house sales to foreigners

In August, house sales to foreigners in Izmir decreased by 36.8% compared to the same month of the previous year and remained limited to 55 houses. Nationwide, house sales to foreigners decreased by 42.0% to 3,058. In August, the share of house sales to foreigners in total house sales was 2.5%. Istanbul was the province with the highest number of house sales to foreigners with 1,666 house sales, followed by Antalya with 919 house sales and Mersin with 248 house sales.

Buca ahead in house sales

In Izmir, the highest number of house sales in August 2023 was realized in Buca district. While 763 houses were sold in Buca, Buca was followed by Karabağlar with 705 house sales, Menemen with 616 house sales, Torbalı with 542 house sales, Karşıyaka with 534 house sales. There were 414 house sales in Bornova, 336 house sales in Konak, 313 house sales in Çiğli, 225 house sales in Seferihisar and 189 house sales in Bayraklı.
