Hoa Phat Group's steel sales rise in October

Hoa Phat Group, one of Vietnam's leading steel producers, increased its steel sales by 7% m-o-m to 635,000 metric tons in October. However, some sectors, such as structural steel and high-grade steel, experienced declines.

Hoa Phat Group's steel sales rise in October

The hot rolled coil (HRC) segment performed positively with a 17% increase in sales, exceeding 273,000 mt. Strong demand in the southern market and exports were instrumental in the increase in this segment. Other sub-market products such as steel pipes and galvanized steel coils also showed strong growth, with sales up by 11% and 25%, respectively.

However, sales of structral steel fell by 4% m-o-m, while sales of high quality steel were down by 21%. This is due to a combination of factors, including difficult market conditions and a decline in exports.

Hoa Phat's exports suffered a significant drop in October, with volumes down by 44% to 600,000 metric tons. This was driven by a 21% decline in structural steel exports and a remarkable 44% drop in high-grade steel exports.

Despite the mixed results in October, Hoa Phat Group remains a major player in Vietnam's steel industry. The Group has significant market shares of 33.27% and 27.34% in the structural steel and steel pipe markets, respectively. In addition, its galvanized steel coils rank in the top 5 in the Vietnamese market.
